Our story

My journey into woodworking began in my teen years with the building of dozens of skateboard ramps for myself and my friends. It was at this time that I began enjoying creating things that were useful.

From there I went into picture framing for museums and artists. Here I discovered the joy of marrying form and function with a variety of materials. While running a frame shop and gallery, I decided I wanted to learn more about woodworking in order to design and create my own custom moldings.

With the generous help of a grant from the Mike Rowe Works Foundation, I was able to attend a woodworking program and earn an AAS in cabinetry and architectural woodworking. While studying fine woodworking techniques, I found I had a passion for cabinetry and furniture making.

Today JMH Woodworking has evolved into a custom woodworking studio that specializes in cabinets, shelving, and restoration. We bring together form and function by helping our customers design and achieve their goals for their spaces. As a result, we provide a rare combination of design, quality craftsmanship and down to earth installation services.

The materials for JMH Woodworking designs are locally and responsibly sourced. We use a variety of environmentally friendly finishes and practices, with sustainability and production schedules in mind.

We are located in beautiful Chattanooga, Tennessee and serve the greater Chattanooga and North Georgia areas.

I look forward to collaborating with you on your project!
